Test Your Assumptions
Hereโs a task for you, think of an opinion that you feel strongly about – a political belief or a current headline is a good place to start.โ โ โ โ
Next, work at proving your point wrong. This is a tactic often used in a debate. In order to have a plausible argument, you must know the opposing sideโs views. The process ofโ learning both sides of a topic may lead to a change in your opinion, or it can strengthen your opinion while giving you more information to back up your view.
In the end, you should walk away with more understanding of the topic which will help you expand your mind and the way you think about the world.โ โ โ โ
This is an exercise that you can do with a friend, family member, or anyone else who you feel comfortable around – because this activity is all about getting OUT of your โ comfort zone! โ It’s also a good way to practice respecting othersโ views.โ โ โ โ โ โ
โIf you want something youโve never had, โ then you need to do something youโve never done.โ โ
